Dr. Jonathan Woodson is the President of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. As such, Dr. Woodson is responsible for the academic, research and service mission of the university. He advises the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs and the four service Surgeons General on a wide array of issues related to graduate health professions education and healthcare research. He oversees, evaluates, and coordinates efforts to enhance graduate health professions education and healthcare research to include emerging technologies and treatments as well as efforts to improve patient safety and quality within the Military Health System. The USU Brigade Commander is recognized as the “senior active duty military officer” of the university. It is the responsibility of the Brigade to ensure that uniformed personnel assigned to the university adhere to the appropriate standards set by their parent service.
